Product Information

Antares' dobsonian telescopes are available in 3 sizes (8", 10" and 12"). They combine high quality, big-aperture optics with the simplicity of a dobsonian mount at highly affordable prices. Any of these telescopes will keep the serious amateur astronomer busy for many years to come.

The 8" f/6 Antares dobsonian features a parabolic mirror that is accurate to 1/6 wavefront (corresponding to a surface accuracy of 1/12 wave) or better. This is housed in a white-enameled steel optical tube equipped with a 2" rack-and-pinion focuser with a 1.25" adapter (both with brass compression rings), a 50mm right-angle finderscope and a dust cap.

The 8" model 620D Antares telescope also comes with two 1.25" high quality Plossl eyepieces (9mm and 32mm providing magnifications of 38x and 133x). The 8x50mm right angle, correct image (RACI) finder features a multi-coated objective and eyepiece cross-hairs that allow for precise centering of faint objects. It provides a generous 5.4 degree field of view. This is mounted on a quick release bracket with 3-point adjustment, including one that is spring loaded. The standard R&P focuser can be optionally upgraded to a standard Crayford focuser or to a 10:1 Crayford microfocuser.

The stable dobsonian base also features an eyepiece/accessory tray and a carrying handle. The spring system provides the right amount of friction on the altitude bearings to ensure proper tube balance. Set-up takes a few minutes and even the larger models are quite portable. 2 year warranty.
